EAST LANSING, Mich. — Motion Grazer AI, a Michigan-based AgTech company dedicated to improving the health and welfare of farm animals, has secured an investment from Michigan Rise Pre-Seed Fund III.

Originating as a spinout startup from Michigan State University, Motion Grazer has developed the SIMKit device, designed to monitor livestock and offer tailored management strategies for improved health and increased productivity. The device uses depth-sensor cameras to create 3D images of animals. Using Motion Grazer’s proprietary algorithms, these images enable the detection of issues like animal lameness or unacceptable body condition in livestock. It provides personalized sensing, monitoring, and analysis, specifically aimed at enhancing animal health and productivity and enabling precision livestock breeding for sows.

“Most farmers traditionally use several qualitative methods to gather their own data on sow health,” said John McIntyre, CEO of Motion Grazer AI. “Our technology helps farmers gather highly accurate, cost-effective, quantitative information to predict livestock wellness with exceptional efficiency and profitability, potentially revolutionizing the livestock industry.”

The investment from Michigan Rise will help Motion Grazer AI advance product development, design, and marketing.
