EAST LANSING, Mich. — Electric Outdoors, a startup developing sustainable off-grid camping solutions, has secured an investment from the Michigan Rise Pre-Seed Fund III.
Electric Outdoors has developed a portable, solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging canopy designed for camping in remote locations. The platform features a modular design that allows users to customize it with various amenities such as a shower, sleeping area, or kitchen, offering flexibility and convenience for outdoor enthusiasts. It also allows property owners to provide boutique camping experiences through an Airbnb-style model, catering to outdoor enthusiasts seeking hidden gems and unique getaways.
“Founder and CEO, Josef Hjelmaker, is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the automotive and RV industries,” said Tommy Skinner, Director of Venture Investments at Michigan Rise. “Josef has positioned Electric Outdoors to aggressively target the emerging electric and autonomous RV market.”
The investment from Michigan Rise will be used to hire software engineers and other key team members, enhance the company’s digital platform, scale manufacturing, and expand partnerships with major outdoor retail brands, including RV retailers and dealerships, to offer nationwide service for their canopies.
