EAST LANSING, Mich. — Syncurrent, a Marquette, Michigan-based company developing a platform to help underserved communities access government funding, has received an investment from the Michigan Rise Pre-Seed Fund III. Smaller, rural communities—particularly Federally recognized Tribal Nations—often encounter obstacles due to limited resources and expertise, making it difficult to effectively leverage available funding. Research shows that Tribal communities apply for federal funding less frequently than their urban counterparts, restricting their opportunities for growth in areas like natural resource management and energy development.
Syncurrent’s platform simplifies the funding navigation process, helping underserved communities discover funding opportunities tailored to their needs. It also facilitates collaboration on larger projects that often involve partnerships among industry, academia, government, nonprofits, and community organizations, increasing the likelihood of securing substantial funding. Syncurrent will release its municipal version in early 2025 and encourages municipal government leaders to reach out for early access.
“The founders at Syncurrent are dedicated to helping the tribal community navigate the complex landscape of government resources and federal grant funding,” said John Tran, Venture Associate at Michigan Rise. “During the customer discovery process, they quickly recognized the value this kind of tool could provide to tribal nations.”
The investment from Michigan Rise will be used to expand Syncurrent’s AI capabilities, hire key developers, and onboard additional customers, positioning the company for future growth and partnerships.
