EAST LANSING, Mich. — ATLAS Space Operations, a Traverse City-based satellite communications company, has secured an investment from Michigan Rise Pre-Seed Fund III.
The company’s flagship platform, Freedom™, is a combination of software and hardware working together to process and analyze data from space through a global antenna network. Freedom aims to make communicating with satellites simpler, faster, and more economical than ever before.
“ATLAS has demonstrated an ability to proactively recognize opportunities to improve how ground stations interact with satellites,” said Tommy Skinner, Senior Venture Associate at Michigan Rise. “The importance of satellite technology is growing across all sectors, which makes ATLAS a stronger competitor in the market. Their software and team are outstanding.”
Since it began in 2015, ATLAS has established 50 federated network ground antennas and holds three patents in satellite communication. The investment from Michigan Rise will support operational expenses and upcoming projects for the company.
“We’re proud to be based in Michigan, and grateful for our strategic capital partners like Michigan Rise,” said Corey Geer, CFO of ATLAS Space Operations. “We’d welcome conversations with any other Michigan investors interested in the space tech industry.”
