EAST LANSING, Mich. — M3D, Inc., a Michigan-based company specializing in gamma radiation detection cameras for safety and medical applications, has secured an investment from Michigan Rise Pre-Seed Fund III.

The technology developed by M3D allows real-time visualization of sources of radiation in healthcare settings, including during radiotherapy treatments, and in operating and patient recovery rooms. M3D is developing two key product lines: a radiation detection camera for safety and compliance, and an intraoperative surgical camera.

“Both technologies being developed by M3D are designed to advance the state of radiotherapy and improve safety and compliance within the Healthcare industry,” said Matthew Okoneski, Senior Venture Associate at Michigan Rise. “In particular, we’re excited about M3D’s ability to provide surgeons and radiologists with intraoperative imaging guidance while ensuring the safety of those administering nuclear therapies and others in close proximity.”

Since its launch in May 2023, M3D has achieved several key milestones, including design and validation of prototypes and field demonstrations, with plans for the safety camera to be commercially ready by mid-2024. The investment from Michigan Rise will be allocated towards finalizing the design of the safety camera, conducting field testing and product demonstrations, and building out the team.
